The Division of Legislative Services is the legislative branch agency created statutorily by the General Assembly to provide nonpartisan legal and general research services to members of the General Assembly and its standing committees in the House of Delegates and Senate of Virginia.

The Virginia Legislative Information System provides a website for tracking and accessing bills and resolutions in current session of the Virginia General Assembly; researching the Code of Virginia, the Virginia Administrative Code and the Virginia Constitution, and accessing other legislative resources.

The League of Women Voters of the Richmond Metropolitan Area (LWV-RMA), a nonpartisan political organization, was founded in November 1920 after the passage of the 19th Amendment (Women’s Suffrage Amendment) to the US Constitution. The League encourages the informed and active participation of citizens in government. It influences public policy through education and advocacy. The League never supports or opposes any political party or candidate. The League of Women Voters has two separate and distinct roles. 

  • Action/Advocacy: we are also nonpartisan, but, after study, we use our positions to advocate for or against particular policies in the public interest.
